Our Process

From Image to
Finished Piece

Every Chrome & Canvas piece is individually prepared, printed, finished and inspected in our studio, with careful attention to color, detail, material and final presentation.

Every decision starts with the image.

Prepare

Preparing Your File

Upload your file, choose your size, surface and presentation, and we take it from there. Before production, every file is reviewed for resolution, proportion and print readiness.

We prepare each file specifically for the medium you selected while preserving the character and intent of the original.

Two Distinct Ways to Present Your Work

Metal and canvas create very different visual results. Metal emphasizes color, crisp detail and depth, while canvas brings a softer texture and more natural tonal character.

Metal Prints

ChromaLuxe Aluminum

Metal prints are produced using dye sublimation, where carefully controlled heat and pressure drive the dyes into ChromaLuxe's coated aluminum surface rather than leaving them on top.

Because the color exists within the coating, light passes into the surface, reflects from the bright layer beneath, and travels back through the dyes. This creates vibrant color, crisp detail, and a distinctive optical depth that can give the image an almost three-dimensional quality.

Canvas Prints

Archival Fine Art Canvas

Canvas offers a softer, more tactile interpretation of your image. Your artwork is printed onto premium fine-art canvas to preserve detail and tonal character while introducing the natural texture that makes canvas distinctive.

Each canvas is carefully prepared, stretched and finished by hand for its final presentation.

Surface Finish

How Surface Finish Changes the Print

The surface finish changes both the look of the print and how it interacts with light.

White Gloss

Maximum Vibrancy & Optical Depth

Our most vivid white finish. Gloss delivers the strongest color saturation, crisp detail and optical depth, with a polished surface that becomes more dynamic as light moves across it. Choose gloss when you want the most visual impact from color, contrast and depth.

Semi-Gloss White

Vibrant Color. Softer Sheen.

Semi-gloss keeps much of the color, detail and depth of gloss while giving the surface a softer response to light. It is a versatile choice when you want the richness of metal with a more restrained sheen, especially in rooms with mixed or changing light.

Matte White

Rich Color. Minimal Sheen.

Matte offers a smooth, understated surface with very little sheen while preserving strong color and fine detail. It is especially well suited to bright rooms, large windows, or spaces where you want the artwork to read consistently from a wider range of viewing angles.

Silver Gloss

Let the Aluminum Show Through

The natural aluminum shows through lighter areas instead of appearing as solid white, creating metallic highlights and an added sense of depth. Silver works especially well with strong contrast, water, architecture, black-and-white work, or images where the metal itself can become part of the final look.

Transform

Printing & Production

Metal

Heat. Pressure. Precision.

The printed transfer and coated aluminum are brought together under carefully controlled heat and pressure. During this stage, the dyes migrate into the ChromaLuxe coating, creating an image with exceptional detail and dimensional color.

Canvas

Prepared & Stretched by Hand

The printed canvas is carefully prepared and hand-stretched into its final form, maintaining even tension, clean corners and the intended composition throughout the piece.

Finish

Finishing & Framing

A print isn't finished when it leaves the printer. Every metal print is individually hand-finished before framing or mounting. We smooth and sand the edges, cut and fit each piece to its frame, and carefully finish exposed metal edges for a clean final presentation.

Depending on your selection, we then build and fit the mounting or framing system specifically for the finished piece.

Every presentation is finished to complement the image — not compete with it.

06
Inspect

Before It Leaves Our Hands

Before leaving our studio, every finished piece is inspected for print quality, surface condition, construction and presentation. Only after that inspection is it carefully packaged for delivery.

Why Metal Prints

Built Differently From a Traditional Print

Dye sublimation places the color within the coated aluminum surface rather than on top of it. That difference is what gives metal its smooth finish, crisp detail and distinctive optical depth.

01

Optical Depth

Light travels into the coated surface and back through the dyes, giving the print a dimensional quality.

02

Crisp Detail

A smooth, texture-free surface keeps fine detail clean and clearly defined.

03

Durable Surface

The coated aluminum surface is built for long-lasting photographic and fine-art display.

04

No Glass Required

The finished print can be displayed directly, without placing glass between you and the artwork.

Outdoor Metal Prints

Built for Exterior Display

Outdoor metal requires a different production approach than a standard indoor print. For exterior projects, we use materials and a dye-sublimation process selected specifically for greater resistance to UV exposure and changing outdoor conditions.

Placement matters, so we consider size, mounting, direct sun, moisture and the surrounding environment before production. The goal is the same clean metal presentation, produced for the conditions where the finished piece will actually live.

A dedicated Outdoor Metal Prints guide is coming soon.

01 Exterior-Specific Production

Outdoor work is produced differently from our standard indoor metal prints.

02 Exposure Considered

Direct sun, moisture and placement are considered before the piece goes into production.

03 Mounting Matters

The mounting approach is selected with the size, location and installation in mind.
